How do I access e-journals and databases?

Answer

You can access UCL's ejournals using the ejournals list or Explore.

If you know the title of the journal that interests you check Explore or the A-Z listings to see if UCL has access. To see which titles in your subject area are available, use the ejournal list subject listing.

Search result records include the journal name and a 'View Online' link. Clicking on either of these links will bring up the 'View It' information

The 'View It' section features the holdings summary detailing available options for full text access, with dates and volume numbers for each option. Clicking on the link will take you to the journal home page. If there is more than one option for access, choose the one that has the year/volume/issue you need.

UCL provides access to a variety of databases and full-text resources via the Databases webpage which includes A-Z listings and subject specific databases. In addition all databases are indexed in Explore.

  • On-site users will be recognized as a UCL user and will be able to access the database without logging in
  • Off-site users, accessing from a computer outside the UCL network, will be prompted automatically to log in via the UCL Single sign-on using their UCL username and password. Some resources are freely available and these do not require login.
  • Some databases have specific log in instructions. These can usually be found by searching the resource within the Databases A-Z.
